Developer Diary #014:  The Bronze Seed

Hello, players!

We’re continuing our series about Magical Things — mysterious artifacts that Toto will encounter during his journey through the Magic Land.

Today, we’re taking a closer look at a tiny object with the power to transform an entire mountain.

The Bronze Seed.

No one knows where it came from. For a long time, it was considered almost harmless: the Bronze Seed helped flowers bloom and made crops grow bigger.

But everything changed when it fell into the hands of a herbalist who lived high in the mountains.

In just one month, the Seed transformed the entire mountain into a Bronze Forest. Living plants became intertwined with metal, their roots drawing strength from the surrounding earth, and metal vines continued to grow, destroying everything in their path.

The forest could only be stopped with the help of the Bronze Bud, which grew from the Seed. As soon as the herbalist plucked it, the entire forest rusted and withered away.

Since then, the Witches and Sorceresses of the Magic Land have kept a watchful eye on the Bronze Seed — either to make sure it never falls into the wrong hands… or because they secretly wanted it for themselves.

For Toto, the Bronze Seed can be incredibly useful.

As long as it stays away from the soil, Toto gains the ability to control plant roots and shoots. This allows him to make his way through dense vegetation, clear obstacles, and even venture through the thorniest bushes without fear.

Just remember one thing:

Never plant the Bronze Seed near metal deposits. 👀Unless, of course, you’re hoping to grow another Bronze Forest.
